We know, we know, self care was one of the terms that were asked to stay in 2022 but until we find a replacement, we’re stuck with it.
Now running a business is no joke; from the fact that you’re literally paving your own way, to the zillion roadblocks and tasks that you find on your desk.
It’s definitely very easy to shove your mental health aside and before you know it you’re on the edge, your phone ringing gives you anxiety and you can barely get a full 8 hours sleep.
Though owning a business is great, it definitely is work! One thing for sure is that, no-one does their best work and attracts dream clients when on the brink of collapse.
So, how are you saying no burn out this new year? Easy, build a selfcare routine. You can make it as less complicated as possible and all you have to do is dedicate a few hours out of your day. So here are a few things you can incorporate into your schedule;
- Set an alarm once a day and label it “Self Care”; take two minutes off your day and do a simple breathing exercise, then take note of one thing that you are grateful for that day.
- Treat yourself to a craving. Let that be your cheat day. Go down the store and get yourself some ice cream, just take a break!
- Agreeing to a getaway or get together: This can be as simple as booking an AirBnB or having a potluck dinner with some friends. Plan yourself a laptop / work free weekend.
- Join a community of business owners where you can share the daily struggles. This is an encouragement for you to join the Oyster. Your business bestie is waiting.
- Schedule taking a day off. Choose one day a month, where you don’t have work and then do something random; like visiting the museum. You will be amazed how inspired you will leave that day.
- Delegate tasks that do not need you to handle. You can get a relative or a friend to handle something for you or even get an intern.
- Schedule a sleep day and sleep in. Simple right? For one day, don’t set the alarm and just let yourself sleep
And that is it, there are a few ways you can be able to balance the hustle and self care this year.
