We are not an empowerment talk shop.
Oyster Women began in 2018 as Pearls for Her. Over three years of impactful events, we noticed a gap: women were inspired but lacked the structure to implement and sustain change.
In 2023 we registered as Oyster Women Initiative Limited by Guarantee and launched our membership model. We rebuilt completely in 2026 — a harder, more structured, more honest community than before.
We are a community that moves. We set real goals, save money together, hold each other accountable, and show up when it counts.

Feb 2018Pearls for Her is born
Dushiime Kaguliro and Rowena Lubowa create Pearls for Her.
Jun 2018The first event
Hosted the first event, the “Women in Business Cocktail Mixer,” with 60 attendees. So many hugs and connections made.
Nov 2018Katale & Kocktails
Organized the first “Katale & Kocktails” market day with 500 attendees.
Jul 2019Limitless Breakfast
Hosted the “Limitless Breakfast with Flavia Tumusiime” for empowerment.
Apr 2020Going digital
Transitioned to digital platforms during the global pandemic.
Dec 2020Goal Digger Retreat
Held the inaugural “Goal Digger Retreat” for strategic planning.

The Oyster is launched
Launched “The Oyster,” a membership platform empowering women with business tools and resources.
Mar 2023A new name
Rebranded as Oyster Women Initiative Limited by Guarantee with the mission to support women entrepreneurs.
Oct 2023The first chapter
Launched the first Oyster Women chapter, marking a new era of growth and support.
